A long awaited CPD training course – the first of its kind – is taking place in May 2015. ‘Open Countryside One Planet Development’ is organised by the One Planet Council.
Friday 8 May, is for professionals such as Local Planning Authority officers and consultants who are involved in assessing applications: Download LPA training programme and booking form.
Saturday 9 May, is for One Planet Development applicants: Download APPLICANT training programme and booking form.
The team delivering the course includes the principal author of the guidance (James Shorten), and also the Ecological Footprinting expert who put together the footprinting tool which accompanies it (Bill Knight). In addition, Mark Waghorn, an experienced eco-architect based in Wales, will cover Zero Carbon Buildings.
Lammas, an established Welsh Open Countryside One Planet Development (OCOPD), will host the course and Tao Paul Wimbush, who has worked in the field for many years, will add his experience to the course and show people around the site (where he lives).
The guidance is necessarily complex, and deals with aspects of development not found in other types of planning proposals. However, at the end of the day both applicants and planners should be confident that they know what OCOPD is, what is required of planning proposals for it, and how to assess the authenticity and integrity of OCOPD planning applications.
For anyone with an interest in sustainable land based living this is an opportunity not to be missed.
