Walking/cycling directions to all sites

Please leave extra time to ensure that you arrive for the scheduled start of the tour: it will not wait for you and it may not be easy to find the group after the tour has begun!

 

Monday 22nd July
10am to 12pm
Beeview Farm, Newport, Pembrokeshire: 15-20 min walk uphill

This Google map shows the route from the car park on Long street for those parking and walking (15-20mins walk uphill).

Our Postcode is SA42 0QD but this is unreliable in the final stages so please follow description:

Turn onto market street and go past spa on your left. At the T junction just passed spa turn left and follow road round. Pass the church on your left. Ignore the right turn directly opposite the church but take the next right another 50m or so further on (if you get to King’s Terrace you’ve gone too far). Follow this up past a house called Castle Hill on the right. Just after Castle hill there’s a sharp right turn and we are the field entrance straight ahead at this sharp right. There’ll be a sign out.

 

Monday 22nd July
1pm to 3pm
Parc y Dderwen, Llangolman, Pembrokeshire: 1 hour walk/ 25 min cycle

Park at Glandy Cross car park on the A478 and walk/cycle the remainder. It’s a roughly 25 min cycle or an hour walk.
From the A478 take the exit opposite the garage at Glandy Cross signposted to Maenclochog. Turn right at the T junction following the road down to the river, cross the bridge and continue on that same road, ignoring the turning on your right after the bridge, you’ll enter Llangolman and go past a mechanic and a nursery on your left, keep on going and take the first road on your left after the red wooden house. You’ll go past the church on your right and keep on going down the hill, through 2 sharp bends and after the bends ours is the first track on your left, just before you reach 4 houses on the road. Turn down the track and you’ll see our land immediately on the right.


Tuesday 23rd July

Hafan y Coed, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: very short walk

Park in the main Car Park by the Lammas Community Hub building. The postcode is SA34 0YD – if coming through Glandwr, don’t follow sat nav up the Pont-y-Gafel track: go past it and up the Tir-y-Gafel / Lammas track which is clearly signposted at the roadside.  Your guide will meet you here.

Tuesday 23rd July
1pm to 3pm

Pencedni, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: 10-15 min walk

Park in the main Car Park by the Lammas Community Hub building. The postcode is SA34 0YD – if coming through Glandwr, don’t follow sat nav up the Pont-y-Gafel track: go past it and up the Tir-y-Gafel / Lammas track which is clearly signposted at the roadside.
From the Hub, follow the track out of the car park with the Hub building on your left. Turn left towards the Millpond and continue with the Millpond on your right. Carry on until you reach the farmyard, proceeding through the farmyard, past the farmhouse on your left, and down the track.  Look for a drystone wall entrance on your left; go through and walk down the hill towards the house.  Please mind your step especially if conditions are wet, and keep to the path.



Wednesday 24th July

10am to 12pm
Pencoed, Llechryd, Ceredigion: 15-20 min walk

DIRECTIONS FOR WALKERS. Take the number 460 bus to Llechryd from Cardigan or Carmarthen. By car, park in Llechryd Village village hall car park, or a side street. Walk down the small lane next to the Saith Seren (Seven Stars) public house. Turn right at bottom of lane and then continue along the back road, past the houses on left and then veer right up the hill. Pass Ty Hazzard on left and then houses Cashel Mara and Brynderi on right. Pencoed‘s large chestnut gate entrance is approx 200 metres further on the right hand side. Post code SA43 2PB.
Walk time: 15 – 20 minutes.

DIRECTIONS BY BICYCLE:  Pencoed (postcode SA43 2PB) is accessed via a back lane which loops off the A484 between Cardigan and Llechryd. From Cardigan take the A484, signposted Newcastle Emlyn and turn right at Croes y Llan, i.e., the first settlement you come to. This is a quiet looping back lane which ends up at Llechryd bridge. Continue along the lane climbing up and down and winding round through the woods, for approx 1.3 mile until you see a house called Ty Fri on your right hand side. Entrance is around 100 metres past on the left hand side and has a house sign ‘Pencoed‘ on the verge, plus small black letter box attached to the cleft chestnut fence.  Drive into the track and continue along until you reach the parking area.

Wednesday 24th July
1pm to 3pm

Bryn yr Blodau, Pembrokeshire: 10-15 min walk

Park in the woodland carpark next to Nant y Cwm school at postcode SA66 7QJ.  Walk down the hill, pass the school on your left, continue for a quarter of a mile, then turn left onto the farm track with the sign “Bryn y Blodau”, walk up the hill, pass the big band and continue another 200m to a large car park (don’t park there, please, it could annoy our neighbours). Take the track on the left of the wooden fence, continue 20m, pass through the wooden gate, pass the stone circle and you will see the roundhouse.


Thursday 25th July
10am to 12pm
Willow Farm, Jameston, Pembrokeshire: 10-15 min walk

Park at the village pub at postcode SA70 8QE (do please have lunch or a drink there when you return: the Swan Lake Inn is open from noon).

Walk down the hill (Gainer Way) past Brumwell machinery wooden holiday pods.
At cross roads go right, we are 2nd field on left with wooden gate and green postbox ‘Willow Farm’.  Our postcode is SA70 8QB.

Less than half mile walk from village.

Thursday 25th July
1pm to 3pm

Green Apple, Cosheston, Pembrokeshire: very short walk

Take the turning for Cosheston off the A477 and travel up to the village past the war memorial. From the crossroads in Cosheston, go uphill and then continue for one mile to next crossroads. The Green Apple gate is on the cross, next to the postbox.  The postcode is SA72 4TZ. There is space for more cars to park here.

Friday 26th July
10am to 12pm
Plas Helyg, Lammas Ecovillage, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: very short walk

Park in the main Car Park by the Lammas Community Hub building. The postcode is SA34 0YD – if coming through Glandwr, don’t follow sat nav up the Pont-y-Gafel track: go past it and up the Tir-y-Gafel / Lammas track which is clearly signposted at the roadside.  Your guide will meet you here.

Friday 26th July

Gelli Y Gafel, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: 10 min walk

Park in the main Car Park by the Lammas Community Hub building. The postcode is SA34 0YD – if coming through Glandwr, don’t follow sat nav up the Pont-y-Gafel track: go past it and up the Tir-y-Gafel / Lammas track which is clearly signposted at the roadside.

Follow the track out of the car park with the Hub on your left. Turn left towards the Millpond and continue with the Mill pond on your right. Carry on until you reach the farmyard. Turn right before the agricultural buildings, our entrance is on your left.


Saturday 27th July – Whitland, South Wales
2pm to 5pm
Ty Gwennol, Dan y Berllan and Swn y Coed (Rhiw Las), Carmarthenshire: 30 min walk

Park in Llanboidy by the recycling centre.  From the Spar/Post Office, go down the small road through the village (not the main road) towards the sports and social club.  Continue downhill past the playing fields and keep going straight on and up the hill again on the bridleway.  You meet the surfaced road again after a few hundred yards and carry straight on.  This is our road – follow the road, keeping on past a yellow house on the right and a small wind turbine on the left.  After you start going down hill again, look for the Old Granary on the left – we are the next entrance on the right.  Our signpost faces away from you coming this way.  About a 25-30 minute walk.

Alternative: 15 minute cycle from Whitland (or walk – this walk will take you 45 min to an hour depending on speed).  The postcode is SA34 0LH.  Leave Whitland by Spring Gardens and go straight across the roundabout towards Llanboidy, then immediately turn left signposted to the Abbey.  Continue on this road for three miles, passing the Abbey.  We are a little to the north of the map pin where a Satnav would say “you have arrived” – continue up the hill and look out for our signpost on the left.


Saturday 27th July – Glandwr, South Wales

Maes Melangell, Lammas Ecovillage, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: very short walk

Park in the main Car Park by the Lammas Community Hub building. The postcode is SA34 0YD – if coming through Glandwr, don’t follow sat nav up the Pont-y-Gafel track: go past it and up the Tir-y-Gafel / Lammas track which is clearly signposted at the roadside.  Your guide will meet you here.

Saturday 27th July – Glandwr, South Wales
2pm-4pm (please note different start time to other days)

Parc y Dwr, Glandwr, Pembrokeshire: 5 min walk

Drive to Glandwr, finding the crossroads with the Upholstery shop and the old red telephone box at SA34 0YE and park in Glandwr.  From the crossroads go uphill. Go uphill for about 50 metres where there is a sharp right bend with a house, cars and a gate with a big pile of gravel. This is our bottom gateway. Go along the road about another 30 metres and turn left at a tiny crossroads and our main gateway is on the left about 40 metres along the road. It is a dusty / muddy entrance, with no gate.


Saturday 27th July – North Wales
1pm to 3pm
Ty Coed / Dee Wood, Glyndyfrdwy, Denbighshire

Postcode is LL21 9BS

From A5 turn Right (if from Llangollen, left if from Corwen) into the village of Glyndyfrywy. Carry on straight through the village over the bridge and then turn right  continue on this road for approximately 0.5 miles until a left fork in the road which is just after a small hamlet of houses, take the left…on this road you will pass 2 houses before reaching the entrance to the wood –  continue up this track until you see a car park.

 


Sunday 28th July

Gardd Darna, Llangolman, Pembrokeshire: very short walk

There’s a grass verge just outside our land, please park safety and responsibly and do not block the road leading to our main gate as horse lorries are regularly coming in and out from the farm further down the track.
