Following last year’s successful event, we are pleased to announce a second Open Countryside One Planet Development CPD one day training course, taking place at Nant-y-Cwm farm just north of Cardiff on Friday April 8th 2016. We recommend participation for all those interested in, or currently making an application for a One Planet Development. Many applicants attended last years groundbreaking course and we received 100% positive feedback. Download APPLICANT training programme and booking form.
The team delivering the course includes the principal author of the guidance (James Shorten), and also the Ecological Footprinting expert who put together the footprinting tool which accompanies it (Bill Knight). In addition, Mark Waghorn, an experienced eco-architect based in Wales, will cover Zero Carbon Buildings.
The venue, Nant-y-Cwm farm in Rudry, Caerphilly, was the first One Planet Development to be granted full permanent planning permission by a local authority. Hosts, Dan and Sarah Moody will share their experience during the course and will also give a guided tour of their smallholding.
The guidance is necessarily complex, and deals with aspects of development not found in other types of planning proposals. However, at the end of the day both applicants and planners should be confident that they know what OCOPD is, what is required of planning proposals for it, and how to assess the authenticity and integrity of OCOPD planning applications.
For anyone with an interest in sustainable land based living this is an opportunity not to be missed. The course is organised by the One Planet Council. CPD certificates will be issued on the day.
